 MODELING - THEATRE - VOICE

CadenceHeadshot.jpg

Marquis Montgomery (they/them) has experience performing in competitive regional and state competitions, school, and community events from classical and pop singing to stage, in both musical theatre lead and supporting roles and comedic acting. Parts include both traditional male and female roles with their accompanying dress and voice.

Their experience in a touring choir from age 7 led to being recruited while busking, for a local opera performance of "Albert Herring" in 2018, with Portland State University, which increased their interest in musical theatre, which they have pursued since then. Performances have included invitations to perform as a solo artist at street markets, special events performing the National Anthem as solo artist and with traveling choirs for various events including the Harlem Globetrotters.

Marquis enjoys challenging opportunities, and faces them with creativity and determination. During the years of vocal shifting from a Soprano 1 to Bass 2, Marquis focused on improving theatrical skills. Marquis was able to retain a large vocal range following vocal transition and is able to sing Tenor 2 through Bass 2 parts. Marquis has studied basic French, Spanish, and Japanese which have helped them sing in other languages even though they are not bilingual. World and regional travel to Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Mexico, Canada, has expanded cultural competence and led to great appreciation of cultural diversity as well as passion for music in many genre and languages.

Marquis is available for short commercial spots with and without voice, modeling, and musical theatre and opera opportunities including multi media presentations.

Marquis' unique style and diverse skills provide the opportunity to contribute to new forms of artistic expression, limited only by availability and continuity of personal values.

Marquis believes in the right to express ones authentic self both on and off stage, and is comfortable taking on opportunities that challenge social norms. Out of scope are travel gigs outside their home base region, and full nudity.
